True Leadership

Eagles,

I would like to take a moment and commend the many members of our Leadership Academy, for putting on a tremendous event yesterday: The 10th Annual BAEH Leadership Conference, held at the Killeen Civic & Conference Center. The theme of this year's conference was "Take a Real Stand".

We hosted students from most of the middle & high school campuses in KISD, as well as many students from other districts in our area, over 400 students in all!

Our Leadership Academy students conducted team-building games and activities, and exhibited true leadership by giving of themselves to make this day special for all of our guests.

We were also blessed by a highly inspirational message from Keith Hawkins, who has taken his motivational presentations all around the country.

In my opinion, a good leader has the courage to stand alone for what he or she believes in, but is also humble enough to realize nothing gets done without working with people. A bad leader, on the other hand, won't take a stand unless it's already popular, but then is prideful enough to think he or she can simply make a vision a reality just by saying so.

Thank you to our Leadership Academy for demonstrating true leadership by taking a stand for good, while working together to make good things happen.

I'm proud of you!

The Connectedness Project

Eagles,

Are you connected?

What are you involved in at EHS, outside of going to class?

This semester at Ellison, we will launch The Connectedness Project, an effort to link students on campus with student organizations, clubs, and teams that fit their interests. We will also be looking to launch new student organizations that students are interesting in creating.

Our goal is to find a student organization or extracurricular activity for every student, and an opportunity for every student to get involved in campus life in a positive way.

If you are not involved in an extracurricular activity, please drop by our Student Activities office in the cafeteria, and find out what EHS has to offer.

Get Connected!

October 19th -- Mark the Date!

Students, I want to be sure you remember that the first Nine Weeks' grading period ends on October 19th. Be sure to mark that date, communicate with your teachers, and know where your grades stand going into the home stretch.

Let's make this a report card to remember -- for all the right reasons!

Great Start to the Year!

Eagle Family,

We're in the middle of Day Two, and we have had a great start to the 2012-2013 school year!

Many thanks to everyone who has come together to get this year started right: Our students, staff, and parents have all done their part, and I appreciate all of your efforts.

I enjoyed our student assemblies very much, and I'm confident our Eagles will live up to our vision of Ellison High School being a unique place where everyone is treated with dignity, respect, and kindness, and has every opportunity to succeed.

Let's have a great week, and I'll see you Friday evening at Buckley Stadium, as our Eagles take on Georgetown!

Ready to Kick Off 2012-2013!

Ellison Family,

It's almost time to start the new school year, and I hope you are ready to go!

Please make plans to attend Student Registration on August 14 (for grades 11 & 12) and August 15 (for grades 9 & 10, from 8 am - Noon & 1 pm - 5 pm on both days. This is a time to pick up your schedule, check out textbooks, find your locker, purchase a parking sticker, and take care of any needs you have before school starts.

Be sure to bring a lock for your locker, or $5 to purchase one from the Activities office. Also, be ready to pay any fines you might have from last year.

Please see our campus web site for more information.
